After wanting to see the Northern Lights for a very long time, we never imagined for a moment that i would see them for the first time from our own doorstep!
We didn't find out that the Aurora was going to be so strong until around 11pm. It is very rare to see this sight so far South in the UK and according to the Aurora Service website it only happens a couple of times a decade. At the time it was raining heavily and i din't think there was any chance of seeing it. But, miraculously, the clouds cleared and revealed a crystal clear sky . The Aurora wasn't visible by eye but it was visible in the camera. As you can see from the images, it changes quite a lot and quickly. I do not profess to being an expert at photographing Aurora's so i'm sure there are better out there but i am so pleased to be lucky enough to have spotted this and captured what i have. It's a fantastic start to the Christmas week and even managed to land us an article in our local newspaper! Images ©Wowphotography.co.uk 2015. www.wowphotography.co.uk
